Personal Biography:
An attorney since, 1997, Mr. Schwartz practiced law as a court attorney for several judges in Civil Court, Bronx County (1998-2000), where he negotiated settlements, helped conduct trials and research and wrote opinions in civil matters of all kinds, primarily commercial disputes and housing matters.
In 2000, Mr. Schwartz became Senior Legislative Counsel at the New York City Council, serving as counsel directly to the Committees on Transportation, Waterfronts, Small Business and Civil Service and Labor. Mr. Schwartz was Senior Advisor to the Speaker of the Council on transportation issues and became Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Division managing 14 legislative committees, including Housing and Buildings, Economic Development and Environmental Protection. Until his departure in January of 2006, Mr. Schwartz was also heavily involved in the City of New York’s annual budget process and the formation of its infrastructure-related policy direction.
From 2006 through 2015, Mr. Schwartz was Vice President of Government and Public Affairs for Clear Channel Outdoor, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications now known as iHeartMedia. He built a government/public affairs department for the New York office, which monitored and managed political, regulatory and legislative issues affecting the company’s business operations throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. In collaboration with the General Counsel’s office, Mr. Schwartz set the company’s legal strategy for the Metropolitan Area, including its specialty spectacular signage unit in Times Square, and managed outside counsel for the business unit. Mr. Schwartz was also instrumental in the company’s local business development and real estate asset growth.
Active in New Rochelle, New York, where he resides, Mr. Schwartz served several years as a member of the city’s Planning Board as well as on its Committee on Boating and Marinas. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the largest youth organization in the city, Youth Baseball of New Rochelle.
